Welcome to ES (or Earth Simulator) based in Japan is the fastest parallel system in the world. Running at astonishing speeds of roughly 35.9 Tera flops a second(35.860 trillion arithmetic operations per second. To put this in perspective, my home computer, a Pentium 4 1.7ghz system, puts out roughly 3.2 giga flops a second. In other words, it would take about 12,000 of my systems to equal what ES is. Although I don't think I'd ever try and use my system to predict weather, volcanic, and cataclysmic trends over the entire earth.
