It's a funny thing UUNet is. UUNet is the worlds largest and most powerful backbone to the internet , currently owned by WorldCom could possible go under due to WorldCom's financial problems. What does this mean for the end user? Probably not much, most people will never know the difference. But for all the internet service providers that use UUNet this could present a major head ache finding new providers signing new contracts and working with new engineers. The loss of UUNet could also provide a major influx of customers to other major backbone providers such as AT&T and other baby bell companies. So in reality we can all probably live without WorldCom's UUNet, it'd be a painful aggravating loss, but we'd deal with and life would move on.
