"Intel miniaturizes chip circuitry every couple of years, but making circuits so small is a milestone because anything with dimensions less than 100 nanometers -- which is as small as a flu virus and 1,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair -- is considered nanotechnology, or the science of molecular manufacturing, which has largely been confined to science fiction."
