Linux Distro Wars- Battles of the box
Forget Microsoft, Sun, IBM, and apple attacking Linux.Tensions between individual Linux distro's make for ample competition. The leaders of the pack have quality on their side. Of course you can debate in favor of different distro’s but compare Mandrake to Lindows or Caldera. Which one would you pick if you had to choice? Now compare Redhat to Debain or Suse, it's not AS clear but most people favor one over the others.
In the war of Microsoft vs. Apple quality had little to do with anything, the war had more to do with publicity and secret deals with hardware companies. But in the realm of Linux, quality of code is everything and the simple fact is the leaders in the Linux community make the best code.
