According to a wired news article, advances in quantum computing will not only increase the speed of a computer, but will also increase the boot speed of computers.The boot speed of these computers is said to be comparable to the boot speed of say a palm pilot. The reason for the new speed increase is that these computers would use magnetic ram which is non volatile which means when you kick your computer in frustration it’ll restart exactly where you left off.

On the other hand what happens when your system crashes? Do you have to open the case of the system and move jumpers around? If so boot times are going to be a lot longer then designers of the new system anticipated.
