If you brag long enough someone will shut you up.
And so it’s on, According to this wired news article by Brian McWilliams a financially settled American man recently admitted to hijacking two domain names, jehad.net and jehadonline.org. Mcwilliams explains “al-Qaida used jehad.net to claim responsibility for recent attacks on an Israeli airliner and a hotel in Kenya.” Which almost makes the unnamed vigilantes actions excusable in fact the vigilante explained his actions by saying how upset he gets when “[he] see people using this great medium [the internet] for such evil purposes”.However good this mans intentions are he should’ve left well enough alone. According to a wired news article, the FBI was watching both sites, and he probably destroyed some inteligence by taking the sites down. That’s the problem with hackers that consider themselves “white hat” they believe their doing something that’s important and a service to their contry when in reality, their causing more harm then good. After all we as American citizens are getting ready to spend billions of dollars on a new government agency which deals with problems like this, not to mention Poindexter “Total Information Awareness”. If hackers[white hat crackers] really want to contribute positivly to the internet community they should spend more time developing free technologies that better increase privacy and securty, and leave the information warefare to the government.
