BeOS from the ashes to free software

Interesting StuffBeOS, one of the more facier operating systems of it's time is apparently still alive in kicking. According to OSnews.com there are so many developers and enthusiasts interested in this operating system that new GNU projects have been created to try and clone the now palm owned operating system. which, by the way, is not under development by palm and thier for a dead operating system.

With all technology and code available, it appears operating system technology is moving seemingly closer to what looks like a Linux or Linux like base of code (Windows XP, Mac OSX)and it’s refreshing to see the people of the free software arena are interested in things other then just Linux. I believe it’s important that people have alternatives to Linux. This isn’t only an obviously healthy step for BeOS, but also for Linux as these new projects can help many come up with new ideas for both Linux and Be. Contrary to what Microsoft believes a little competition is always healthy
