[Update]

Yesterday I was contacted by Amy an official at the Dana Farber / Jimmy Fund who informed that she would relay the information provided by me to her corporate contacts at my company. Today during our conversation she informed me that my companies corporate officials will be taking steps make my district aware of the problem and hopefully eradicate further misuse of the fund. Amy thank you for your time and dedication toward the Jimmy Fund, it's my personal opinion that you're an incredibly valuable asset to Jimmy Fund, thanks so much.

I work part time at a fairly large local movie theater. Besides my normal duties of cleaning, and guest relations an extra duty that is required of the ushers working for my company is the collection for the Jimmy Fund / Dana-Farber Institute. As you might already know, the Jimmy fund is used for find cures for cancer specifically in children – this I believed was a very worthy cause up until last night. At 11:00PM, I had just clocked out and was writing down the following week’s schedule. To the left of me was a large steal door which housed the theater’s “Cash” office. Inside the office two managers for my theater were counting down and balancing the day’s transactions with the books. Suddenly, through the door, I hear one manager say to the other, "were exactly 25 dollars short," to this the other manager responds, "We'll just take it out of jimmy." I couldn’t believe my ears. They were joking, right? When I got home that night, a manager for the same theater that I happened to be friends with was online. I asked him about the jimmy fund, and to my horror he responded informing me that this wasn't exactly the first time this sort of thing had happend. So there you have it. The collectors of the fund cannot be trusted. If you’re planning on going to a local theater, you can be reasonably certain that you will be asked to give; so make your check payable to “The Jimmy Fund” or you can donate by phone (800) 52-JIMMY or by mail:
