A new method for cracking windows passwords based on the LANMAN hashes has been developed by the security and cryptography laboratory(LASEC). The new method creates large tables of hashes in memory, and performs a dictionary attack based on the tables. Authors claim the method allows any alpha numeric password to be cracked in less then a minute. Thus far no source code or binary executable programs have been published as proof of concept, although you can submit your hash to their website which the company will happily crack for you.
