Microsoft website zapped off the net
It’s amazing. For a corporate giant like Microsoft having your website taken down for more then an hour must be pretty embarrassing. But none the less that’s what happened today; according to Information Week at approximately 1:21 P.M pacific time Microsoft’s site was taken down using a conventional denial of service attack. Microsoft spokesmen commented that he believed the attack could be related to the Defcon conference but no evidence has yet proven any link. It’s comical to think that the source of the attacks could actually be related to the latest critical windows security flaw. A potential attacker could write a simple script to exploit thousands of machines and then have the machines compromised run a script to flood Microsoft with bogus traffic thereby causing denial of service.
