As you may or may not know, Verisign inc., the self pronounced "leader in critical infrastructure and Security services for Internet and Telecommunications networks" has began using its powers as a domain registrar to setup wildcard DNS entries to all .com and .net domains effectively redirecting any person who mistypes a URL to a search site owned and operated by Verisign inc.

According to a story written by John Leyden for The Register, The Internet Software Consortium has published a patch for its widely used BIND DNS server. This new patch prevents users who mistype URLs from being redirected to Verisign search engine.
