Mac OSX "The Stable Operating System"

A recent story written by Leander Kahney for wired news brings Apple Computer dirty little secret to the public eye. A quote from Kahneys article sums up the problem: "’It's not a fluke or an isolated incident,’ said Ben Wilson, senior editor of Macfixit, a respected Macintosh troubleshooting site. ‘Based on reports we've seen, I'd say it was pretty serious.’"

According to Kahney, Max OS 10.3 has problems dealing with external fire wire hard drives to the extent that total data loss on the fire wire drive can occur. This is particularly troubling because Mac users switching over to the new upgrade normally back up all their data to their external drive first and botched installations of Mac OS 10.3 have becoming all to common.

So here’s the bottom line. If you’re a Mac user wanting to upgrade wait until Apple fixes it’s code before upgrading, and if your running a mission critical system you might consider going with a previous version of the Mac OS that’s known good.
